The achievements of three Poway Unified School District 2023 Teachers of the Year were announced to a packed audience at the district's Sept. 13 school board meeting. The current Teachers of the Year are Christina Bass, Sanford Carvajal and Carrie Jennings. They were selected based on their support of the school district's culture and mission through their job performance and dedication to the community, according to Poway Unified officials. Of the three honored educators, Bass went on to be recognized as one of five San Diego County Teachers of the Year.
